Rest x Magnesium

Cherry Blackcurrant

280mg of magnesium glycinate in one bedtime drink: the mineral your nerves and muscles use to come down after a day of being switched on.

Can't switch off at night? Waking up still tired every morning? Rest is for both.

One glass, thirty to sixty minutes before bed. Magnesium helps your mind and nervous system settle, helps your muscles relax, and helps reduce tiredness the next day. Nothing sedative, so nothing to sleep off.

Lights off at eleven. Up at seven. No grogginess.

Benefits

Switch off.
Your nerves fire all day, and magnesium is one of the minerals that lets them stand down. Rest gives you 280mg, 75% of your daily need, in the glycinate form that's gentle on your stomach. Magnesium helps your mind and nervous system work as they should.

Wake up less tired.

Magnesium is part of how your body turns food into energy, so running low shows up as tiredness. Magnesium helps reduce tiredness and fatigue.

Muscles that relax after training.
Muscles use calcium to contract and magnesium to release. Magnesium helps your muscles work normally, which is why Rest covers the night after the session.

Repair while you sleep.
Zinc is what your body uses to build protein, the overnight maintenance on muscle, skin, hair and nails. Zinc helps your body make the proteins it needs.

No melatonin, no grogginess.

Nothing sedative in it, so there is nothing to sleep off meaning you won’t feel foggy in the morning.

The evening building blocks.

L-tryptophan is the amino acid your body turns into serotonin and then melatonin. Inositol helps your cells pass those signals on. 200mg of each.

Highlights

Magnesium is a mineral your body leans on constantly: it contributes to normal psychological function, to the normal functioning of the nervous system, to normal muscle function and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Around one in five UK adults in their twenties don't get enough of it from food, which is why a proper 280mg dose, rather than a sprinkle, is the whole point of Rest.

The rest of the scoop is there in full view. Zinc at half your daily need contributes to normal protein synthesis, the everyday maintenance work your body gets through overnight. Inositol and L-tryptophan are included at 200mg each; both occur naturally in food, and we list their doses on the front of the pack instead of hiding them in a blend. The drink format is deliberate too. Mixing a glass is a full stop at the end of the day in a way that swallowing a capsule never quite manages.

Ingredients

Magnesium bisglycinate (buffered with magnesium oxide), acidity regulator (malic acid), natural flavourings, inulin powder, inositol, L-tryptophan, zinc citrate, colour (beetroot red), sweetener (steviol glycosides from stevia).

How to use

One heaped scoop (4.6g) in 200 to 300ml of cold water. Stir well. Take it thirty to sixty minutes before bed, once daily. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake.

Magnesium works on consistency, so the nightly glass matters more than any single one. Give it a few weeks of the same routine before you judge it.

WHAT HAPPENS, AND WHEN.

Magnesium works on consistency, so the nightly glass matters more than any single one

  • Night 1 - Switch off at night

The glass itself is doing work. Same time, thirty minutes before bed, is the signal that the day is finishing. There's nothing sedative in it, so there's nothing to feel and nothing to sleep off.

    Rest x Magnesium

  • Week 2 - Wake up less tired

Around here is where the nightly routine starts to show. Magnesium helps reduce tiredness and fatigue, and the zinc has been doing the overnight repair work the whole time.

  • Month 3 - Muscles that relax

The habit has bedded in. Magnesium helps your mind and nervous system work as they should and helps your muscles relax after training. Lights off at eleven, up at seven, no grogginess.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND REST X MAGNESIUM

Every nerve that fires needs something to stop it

Your nerves fire all day: at work, in the gym, at a screen. Each signal needs something to help it stand down again, and magnesium is one of those things. Not enough of it and the body finds it harder to rest at night.

Most people don't get enough

Around one in five UK adults don't get enough magnesium from food. Rest gives you 280mg a glass, 75% of your daily need, so the gap is covered and builds your much-needed magnesium stores

The form your stomach doesn't mind

Magnesium on its own is harsh on the gut, which is why cheap forms have a laxative reputation. Rest uses magnesium glycinate, magnesium bound to an amino acid called glycine, which is gentle at a proper dose. Bulky in capsules, but easy in a glass.

What happens overnight

Muscles use calcium to contract and magnesium to release, so the session's work finishes at night. Zinc builds the proteins your body repairs with while you sleep. Magnesium helps reduce tiredness and fatigue, so seven o'clock feels like seven o'clock.

Frequently asked questions

  • No, and it isn't meant to. Magnesium helps your mind and nervous system work as they should, which in plain English means it won't sedate you, but most people find winding down easier with it in their routine. Rest is a habit that stacks up over weeks, not a switch.

  • Because in the UK melatonin is a prescription-only medicine, so no food supplement sold here contains it. Rest is built instead around a proper 280mg dose of magnesium, plus zinc, inositol and L-tryptophan.

  • Thirty to sixty minutes before bed. It marks the start of winding down for sleep, the same way a coffee marks the start of a morning. Same time, every night, is where it earns its keep.

  • Two reasons. A 280mg dose of magnesium glycinate is physically bulky, so in capsules that's an evening handful. And a ritual beats a swallow-and-scroll. One glass, done.

  • Magnesium glycinate is the form bound to glycine, and it's known for being gentle on the stomach. The laxative reputation magnesium has comes mostly from cheaper forms like citrate at high doses. And if the label wording throws you: glycinate and bisglycinate are the same compound, the 'bis' simply counting the two glycine molecules attached.

  • Yes. Both are built for daily use and the doses are set with stacking in mind. Between them you get 380mg of magnesium a day, which sits under the UK guidance level of 400mg a day from supplements. If your digestion's sensitive, start with one and add the other after a week.

  • There's nothing sedative in the formula, so there's nothing to sleep off. No melatonin, no antihistamines, no herbal knockout drops.

  • Cherry blackcurrant, like a cordial that grew up. Stevia sweetened, no sugar rush before bed, coloured with beetroot rather than anything you can't pronounce.
